Embracing Remote Work: Building Trust and Boosting Productivity
Remote work is here to stay, and it’s not hard to see why. My team always meets at 9 AM. Well, my 9 AM, because for some of them, the timezone is different. We chat about our lives and families for a few minutes before diving into work because we believe in building trust even though we’re a remote-first company: these meetings feel like we’re hanging out in person because we’ve developed strong bonds of affection and closeness. As a result, our projects flow and shine. That’s the power of close-knit remote teams.
According to Goldman Sachs, 25% of workers have some sort of hybrid work arrangement. Companies offering flexible work have risen from 51% to 62% in 2023. It’s safe to say the complete return-to-office debate is over—both hybrid and remote models are now widely accepted, almost the norm.
At Arionkoder, we’re remote-first by design because we believe in the power of diversity and want to work with the best talent, no matter where they’re located. Our experience shows that when we build trusting relationships, collaboration and productivity thrive just as they would if we were all around the same table. Technology is our ally, constantly creating new ways to keep us connected. Being remote has been crucial in helping us grow our team and client base—we’re always ready to deliver the next tech rockstar team to help companies achieve their goals. We’re not alone in this: research correlates remote work with fast-growing companies, too.
From a company’s point of view, remote work means allocating financial resources more efficiently. Instead of a central office and being cinched by local availability, we get to work with top talent around the world. From a talent point of view, remote work is a strong incentive that reduces attrition as well as costs and creates a more balanced work-life situation by eliminating unnecessary commuting times. This is a direct result of the COVID-19 pandemic (it existed before, but truly leapt after we all had to stay home), where we assigned different weights to our family and work lives. The truth remains that performance is not harmed by working at home or improved by working in the office.
I think it all boils down to the bonds of trust we create, especially in a remote setting. Whether it’s chatting about common interests, motivating each other, or engaging in games and team activities, we’re strengthening Arionkoder. When we travel to meet our teams, share meals, or visit clients together, we’re building a top-performing team because trust is the biggest enabler of creativity. Feeling safe and connected opens us up to fresh ideas and innovation.
