Charting a New Path with AI Trends: Building with AI
AI is here. It’s not a possibility but rather a certainty, and it’s evolving quickly. To keep pace with this dynamic landscape, we need to nurture, secure, and extract substantial value from AI.
Gartner has identified ten pivotal AI trends for that end categorized into Investment Protection, AI Building, and Value Delivery. In Part 1, we delved into Investment Protection. Now, let’s zoom in on the second category, AI Building, which empowers individuals to harness the right technology for every task.
- Platform Engineering
A rising trend is the development and operation of self-service internal platforms, with each platform serving as a layer designed and maintained by product teams. These platforms feature reusable components and toolsets, fostering “as-a-service” solutions. Platform Engineering enhances the developer experience, accelerating the delivery of business value. Within just two years, we expect to see 80% of software engineering organizations utilizing internal platform teams to provide reusable services, components, and tools for application delivery. At Arionkoder, for example, we are creating our own AI-driven internal platform to handle all our internal documents, assisting our sales processes, and collaborating in recruiting. As part of it, we’re planning to implement APIs to aid other companies to benefit from our technology should they require similar functionalities for their internal processes.
- AI-augmented Development
ML technologies such as Generative AI are poised to assist software engineers in creating, testing, and delivering applications. AI-supported development leverages design-to-code tools, AI coding assistants, and AI-augmented testing tools, harmonizing with engineers’ expertise to generate code, translate legacy code, and enhance testing capabilities. This paves the way for increased productivity and addresses the growing demand for high-level tasks. By 2028, we anticipate that 75% of enterprise software engineers will be using AI coding assistants, a significant leap from the less than 10% who did so in early 2023.
- Intelligent Applications
These applications, whether catering to consumers or businesses, integrate AI and external data sources to automate and augment a wide range of use cases. Generative AI takes center stage now, making applications smarter by injecting insights directly into existing apps, eliminating the need for separate tools. These apps offer tailored predictions and suggestions, facilitating data-driven decision-making. By 2030, we foresee that 30% of all new applications will employ AI to craft custom, adaptive user interfaces, a notable jump from the current 5%.
In this AI building category, Industry Cloud Platforms, Sustainable Technology and Democratized Generative AI also play an important role. Find them here.
